O Level Listening Comprehension Tips

Now that O Level Oral is over, many students are scrambling to practise for O Level Listening Comprehension but they will realise that there's no resources around!

Fret not, we have resources available here for YOU to download for free! Do however take note that the 2016 recordings is not the full recording. If anyone has the full recording and would like to benefit other students, do contact me at fcpedagogy@gmail.com :)

Before

Tip 1:

Sleep well the night before as it requires 1 hour of FULL attention for the Listening Comprehension paper. Frankly, it is not easy to keep yourself awake throughout the paper.

Tip 2:

Do not eat too much before the paper. Digestion requires energy and you might find yourself in food coma if you have a full meal before the exam!

Tip 3:

There will be a short pause before every recording. This pause is meant for you to read the questions before the recording is played. As you read the questions, underline the keywords you should look out for in the recording.

During

Tip 4:

Write down short notes as you listen to the recording. DO NOT rely on your memory! Trust me - been there done that. When the recording is repeated, check your written notes and write down the correct answer.

After

Tip 5:

As you listen, do not try to spot the exact keywords in the questions. Instead, you should listen for synonyms (words with similar meaning).

Tip 6:

Check your answers! Read your answers and make sure that they are grammatically correct and you've spelled the words correctly. You WILL be penalised for grammar and spelling error!
